Colourblind Friendly Colour Palettes

Published:

I have created a free PDF download of colourblind friendly colour palettes that you can use when making quilts for your friends and family who are colourblind.

Colourblind safe means these palettes have been chosen to have strong levels of contrast in them. They avoid colours that are in the same shades and values. Bright, saturated versions of colours are easy to distinguish between for colourblind people.

They have been tested using software tools that checks for colourblind accessibility as well as real life testing with other colourblind people (some of which are quilters).

I hope you will find this free download useful. I have included some information about colourblindness with example pictures.

The colour palettes are based on Kona Solids. On each you will find the colour code and name.

Finally, at the end you will find 5 example quilts. These have been coloured using the palettes. All the colours used are named. I have added a light background colour as required by the quilt pattern.

You can download the PDF for free from here.

If you have any questions about colourblindness, please contact me, or drop me an email at [email protected]
